Women of the Year Banquet

The Space Coast Section of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) will present the annual Space Coast Women Engineer of the Year Awards on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the Rockledge Country Club. Nominations for these prestigious awards are being solicited from Space Coast engineering companies, government agencies, and technical organizations. The criteria for the awards are:

Space Coast Outstanding Woman Engineer Award

  • Demonstrated a high level of competence, leadership and personal integrity in her job
  • Contributed personally to her company's or organization's progress toward their mission
  • Developed, or is in the process of developing her own potential in the engineering profession, or in her outside activities, or who has helped other women engineers develop their potential
  • Worked for, and significantly contributed to, the enhancement of women's status on the job or in her community
  • Minimum of 7 years cumulative engineering experience
  • Resided or worked in the Space Coast Area (Brevard, Volusia, Indian River Counties)

Space Coast Woman Engineer Technical Achievement Award

  • Demonstrated a high level of competence, leadership and personal integrity in her job
  • Has demonstrated outstanding technical excellence as an individual resulting in significant technical accomplishments
  • Minimum of 7 years cumulative engineering experience
  • Resided or worked in the Space Coast Area (Brevard, Volusia, Indian River Counties)

Space Coast Distinguished New Woman Engineer

  • Demonstrated outstanding performance in engineering
  • Active in professional, technical, community, or social organizations
  • No more than 7 years cumulative engineering experience
  • Resided or worked in the Space Coast Area (Brevard, Volusia, Indian River Counties)

To apply for these awards you must complete a Nomination Package, which includes

  • a completed Nomination form
  • Resume
  • 2 Letters of Recommendation.

All files must be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word or PDF format with the following file name: AwardTitle_NomineeLastName_FileTitle­ where the Award Title will be one of the following: Outstanding, Technical, or DistinguishedNew. The FileTitle will be: NominationForm, Resume or Letter_RecommendorName.

  2. Save the file as AwardTitle_LastName_NominationForm where LastName is the name of the Nominee. (e.g.Technical_Smith_NominationForm)
  3. Resume or History of work experience. Submit a resume describing all relevant engineering work experience. Ensure the resume identifies dates, position title, company, location and responsibilities/achievements. Optionally, a history of work experience may be completed. This resume or completed history of work experience should be titled AwardTitle_LastName_Resume
  4. Two letters of recommendation, one from a supervisor or manager and a second from a co-worker. The file should be titled as AwardTitle_LastName_Letter_RecommendorName. (e.g. Technical_Smith_Letter_Allen). Letters should be submitted electronically via email from the nominators email address or with a signature. (Letters emailed from the nominator's email address are assumed to be an electronic signature.)
